Most LEGO® collections end up the same way: sets get mixed together, instructions disappear, and everything lands in a few tubs. That's bulk, and it's what we buy more of than anything else. Here's how it's valued.
Why bulk is priced by weight
Nobody can count tens of thousands of loose pieces before making an offer, so weight is the practical starting point. A bathroom scale and a couple of photos give a buyer most of what they need. From there, the offer moves up or down based on what's actually in the bin.
What makes a pound worth more
- Minifigures and minifigure parts mixed in
- Technic pieces, gears, and motors
- Specialty and printed parts (tiles with designs, windows, doors, plants, vehicle parts)
- Pieces from licensed themes like Star Wars™, Harry Potter™, and Marvel
- Clean, bright, undamaged bricks
What makes a pound worth less
- Knock-off brands mixed in (they have to be picked out by hand)
- Non-LEGO® junk: toy cars, marbles, crayons, the occasional Cheerio
- Lots of big, basic pieces like baseplates and DUPLO® (heavy, but lower value per pound)
- Sun-faded, chewed, cracked, or smoke-damaged pieces
Should you pick out the good stuff first?
If you have complete sets or a pile of minifigures, mention them. They may be worth more on their own. But there's no need to spend hours sorting. We look through everything anyway, and a fair buyer will account for what's in the mix.
How to get a quick, accurate offer
- Weigh it, or tell us how many tubs and roughly what size
- Take one wide photo of everything, plus a close-up of the top of each bin
- Snap any minifigures, boxes, or pieces that look unusual
- Mention any sets you know are in there
Send that our way and we'll get back to you within 2 business days. In Central New Jersey, we'll come pick it up and pay cash on the spot.
